Yeniden Refah Party Deputy Chair strikes deputy mayor on the head with a candy bowl

The incident took place at the Yeniden Refah-led Dulkadiroğlu Municipality. According to allegations, Ali Karataş, the Yeniden Refah Party's Kahramanmaraş Provincial Deputy Chair, came to the municipal service building and met with Deputy Mayor Latif Öztürk.

Following the meeting, an argument broke out between the two. As the argument escalated, Karataş struck Latif Öztürk on the head with a candy bowl in the room, injuring him.

Upon notification, medical teams arrived at the scene and transported the injured deputy mayor to the hospital. Karataş was taken into custody by police teams. It was learned that the deputy mayor is in good health.

DEPUTY CHAIR REMOVED FROM OFFICE

In a written statement issued by the Yeniden Refah Party's Kahramanmaraş Provincial Presidency, it was stated, "Our dear fellow citizens, due to the unfortunate incident that occurred today at our Dulkadiroğlu Municipality, Provincial Deputy Chair Ali Karataş has been removed from his post, and the relevant internal party disciplinary procedures have been initiated. The matter has no connection to the strong ties between the Yeniden Refah Party Provincial Presidency and the Dulkadiroğlu Municipality. The incident occurred due to a personal matter."
