Young chef dies after falling from hotel terrace
Esmanur Polat, who fell from the 5th-floor terrace of the hotel where she worked in Galata, could not be saved at the hospital.
22-year-old Esmanur Polat, who worked as a chef at a hotel in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, was critically injured after falling from the hotel's 5th-floor terrace. Polat was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries despite all medical interventions.
The incident occurred around 00:00 on Friday, July 17, in the Şahkulu neighborhood of Galata. It was reported that Polat, who had been working at the hotel for approximately one year, fell while she was in the terrace area. Health and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification.

Following initial intervention by medical teams at the scene, Polat was taken to Taksim Training and Research Hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. Despite all efforts at the hospital, the young chef could not be saved.
Police investigations revealed that while the hotel held an operating license, the terrace floor where the incident occurred was unlicensed. It was learned that the head waiter, Mustafa T., who was at the hotel during the incident, stated that he and Polat had been working together for about a year and that he had been trying to persuade her while she was in the terrace area.
The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the death of Esmanur Polat. It was reported that the investigation into the exact cause of the incident and potential liabilities is ongoing.
