Following the appointment of a trustee to Halk TV, a new resignation has been added to those that began at the institution. Halktv.com.tr Editor-in-Chief Bengü Şap Babaeker announced in a statement on her social media account that she would be leaving her position.
Previously, Halk TV Editor-in-Chief Suat Toktaş and Program Coordinator Kürşad Oğuz had resigned, stating that they would not work under the trustee administration. Babaeker also announced that she would submit her resignation letter for the same reason.
There are those asking whether I have resigned from Halk TV; I did not think for a second about not doing so. I had declared to him that I would not work with the trustee, and I will go tomorrow to submit my resignation letter. They cannot seize journalism, and they cannot steal our joy:)
As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Cafer Mahiroğlu, Halk TV was seized on October 14, and the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) was appointed as the trustee for the channel.
