The decision issued by the Istanbul 1st Criminal Court of Peace stated the following:
"Considering the entire scope of the investigation file, the nature of the alleged crime, and the fact that all evidence has been collected regarding the suspect TOLGA ŞARDAN, who was arrested for the crime of Publicly Spreading Misleading Information by the Istanbul 1st Criminal Court of Peace's arrest warrant dated 01.11.2023 and numbered 2023/924 Inquiry, it has been understood that the application of judicial control measures would be sufficient. Therefore, with the acceptance of the objection filed by the suspect's defense counsel, it has been decided that the suspect TOLGA ŞARDAN shall be RELEASED under judicial control by means of a 'travel ban' in accordance with Article 109/3-a of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK) No. 5271, as stated below."
STATEMENT FROM THE JOURNALISTS' ASSOCIATION
The Journalists' Association had stated the following regarding Şardan:
"The objection filed against the detention of our colleague Tolga Şardan has been accepted. We expect Şardan to be released tonight. We will continue our struggle until freedom is granted to all imprisoned journalists."
