Change at Ekol TV: A surprise name takes over management

Ekol Medya Anonim Şirketi has changed hands once again. According to a report by Ercan Öztürk from MedyaRadar, the company, which came under the management of Emrah Doğru in 2024, was transferred to Bışar Özbey, who broadcasts on YouTube with his channel BİTV, and Mirza Ekici, who lives in İzmir, following a board of directors decision taken last week.

According to the announcement published today in the Istanbul Trade Registry Gazette, the terms of office for Özbey and Ekici will end on January 26, 2029. The same announcement also included the phrase "Term of office has ended" for Emrah Doğru.

"WE DID NOT PURCHASE EKOL TV"

Bışar Özbey, who has joined the management of Ekol Medya AŞ, said, "We did not buy Ekol TV. We have nothing to do with news. We only want to use the channel's camera system and studios, and if RTÜK approves, we want to purchase Ekol TV's frequency. If we purchase it, we plan to turn our YouTube channel into a television channel. Since our YouTube broadcasts are related to sports, we aim to produce sports broadcasts. The purpose of the announcement in the Trade Registry Gazette is this. I am saying it once again. We did not purchase Ekol TV."

The investigation into Ekol TV regarding allegations of "laundering assets derived from crime" and "financial irregularities" is ongoing.

Following the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Ekol Medya, former Gendarmerie General Commander retired General Arif Çetin had left the Ekol Medya management. Ekran Haber, which broadcasts under the Ekol Medya umbrella, was transferred to a reporter named İlker Turak, who covers judicial news in Ankara; Darp Haber was transferred to Eray Görgülü, an employee of the Ekol TV Ankara Bureau, and the YouTube channel was transferred to Ferhat Murat, who hosted a morning program on Ekol TV.

Bışar Özbey graduated from the Beykent University Faculty of Law and completed his master's degree in law at the same university. While continuing his legal profession, he also took on important roles in the sports community. He served as an executive in clubs such as Sakaryaspor and Akhisar Belediyespor. Özbey has also worked as a sports commentator.
