Hayko Cepkin and Cüneyt Özdemir clash on social media

Comments made to members of the press at the entrance of the Çağlayan Courthouse by singer Hayko Cepkin, who gave a statement as part of the investigation into the Ahbap Association, have sparked a new debate following a social media post by journalist Cüneyt Özdemir.

Reacting to the journalists filming him, Cepkin said, "Blow everything out of proportion with your nonsensical news. There is nothing but filth in what you do." The statement quickly became a trending topic on social media.

Journalist Cüneyt Özdemir criticized Cepkin's tone in a post on his social media account. In a message that began with the words, "Look at this arrogance! Scolding journalists with profanity, belittling prosecutors...", Özdemir also targeted Cepkin's demeanor upon arriving at the courthouse.

Hayko Cepkin responded to Özdemir's post. Quoting Özdemir's message, Cepkin stated that he went to the courthouse with ease because he knew he was "clean."

Cepkin further argued that it was normal for him to complain about "those who report news by disregarding people's lives just to get two more clicks."

The polemic did not stop there. Cüneyt Özdemir brought back to the agenda Cepkin's posts from after the 2023 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, in which he supported the Ahbap Association and Haluk Levent.

Özdemir alleged that there was a contradiction between Cepkin's past messages of support and his statement to the prosecutor, which reportedly included the words, "I have known Haluk Levent for many years and I do not trust him in financial matters."

In another post, Özdemir continued his criticism, stating, "Is there an apology? Is there a 'I was wrong'? No." There was no additional information in the source regarding whether there had been a new statement from Cepkin's side concerning these latest posts.
