Journalist Tolga Şardan, who was released after being detained for five days due to his article claiming that the Presidency had requested a report from the MİT regarding events in the judiciary, is being tried at the Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information" and "publicly insulting the judicial organs of the state," facing a prison sentence of 1 year and 6 months to 5 years.

Tolga Şardan and his lawyers attended the hearing.

The hearing was observed by CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik, CHP Istanbul Deputy Enis Berberoğlu, CHP Eskişehir Deputy Utku Çakırözer, and representatives of the Istanbul Bar Association.
