International Federation of Journalists announces: 16 journalists killed in Gaza
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has announced that 16 journalists have been killed in Gaza since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7.
In a statement released by the IFJ, it was stated that "16 journalists have been killed so far in the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, and many others have been injured or are missing."
According to the report in T24; the names of the journalists who lost their lives are as follows:
"Mohammed Ali, Khalil Abu Azira, Sameh al-Nadi, Issam Bahar, Muhammad Balousha, Abdulhadi Habib, Husam Mubarak, Ahmed Shihab, Muhammad Fayez Yusuf Abu Matar, Saeed al-Taweel, Muhammad Subh, Hisham al-Nawajha, Asaad Shamleh, Muhammad al-Salhi, Ibrahim Lafi, and Muhammad Jaroun"
The statement also noted that there has been no word from one journalist and one photojournalist.
CALL FROM THE IFJ
The IFJ also issued a call to journalists working in the field. The statement urged them to "take necessary precautions, wear safety equipment, and not enter the field unless their media organizations provide them with this equipment."
