Kemal Sunal's legendary character returns to the big screen with Ali Sunal!

Work has begun on a remake of the film Zübük, which holds an unforgettable place in the career of Yeşilçam legend Kemal Sunal, to be directed by Ezel Akay. Akay announced the details of this surprise project and the lead actor.

Ezel Akay announced on the program 'Ali İle Aramızda' that Ali Sunal, the son of the late artist Kemal Sunal, will take on the lead role in the new version of the film Zübük. Years ago, when offered the same role, Ali Sunal had turned it down, saying, "I cannot play the roles my father played." Director Ezel Akay stated that while he respected this decision, he eventually succeeded in convincing Ali Sunal over time.

'A UNIVERSAL STORY'

Ezel Akay expressed his excitement for the new project with these words: "The character of Zübük is a universal story that reflects not only the political and social structure of that era but also of today. Bringing this project to life with Ali Sunal excites me immensely."

ABOUT THE FILM

In the film, which is adapted from Aziz Nesin's novel of the same name, directed by Kartal Tibet, and written by Atıf Yılmaz, Kemal Sunal portrays the member of parliament İbrahim Zübükzade. Journalist Yaşar (Metin Serezli) goes to the village of Gülören to research the life of Zübükzade for a series of articles. The villagers remember him with hatred and recount his life.

Zübük, who started his professional life as a clerk, became wealthy through bribery and then rose rapidly by joining the Support Party. Zübük, who pitted people against each other, managed to reach the positions of mayor and member of parliament through his cunning.
