Protests continue by KRT employees who have not received their salaries
KRT employees, who have been protesting for 15 days, are meeting in Beşiktaş this evening against the withholding of their salaries and personal rights.
KRT Television employees, who began protesting 15 days ago on the grounds that they had not received their rights and their salaries were not paid on time, will gather at Beşiktaş Square this evening.
It was noted that in this meeting, announced by DİSK-Basın-İş, KRT employees will continue to raise their voices for their rights.
KRT Television employees will gather at Beşiktaş Square at 19:00.
WHAT HAPPENED?
KRT TV employees stopped work on June 3, announcing that many of their rights, primarily their wages, had been withheld since March 28. The employees, who started a vigil at KRT TV's Istanbul office throughout the night, subsequently held a press statement.
The employees requested support from the public, their colleagues, and politicians, stating, "KRT TV, where even the simplest editorial discussion cannot be held, and where low wage policies and irregular working conditions have become the norm, does not fulfill any of its responsibilities guaranteed to its employees fully and on time."
Support for the employees came from professional organizations. While DİSK-Basın İş said, "We are here until the workers get their rights!", the Journalists Union of Turkey also stated that even the electricity at the channel's Ankara bureau had been cut off because the landlord had not been paid.
