RTÜK issues notification: Date for TELE 1 blackout set
It has been learned that TELE 1, which was handed a 5-day screen blackout and an administrative fine by RTÜK, will go dark on the night connecting Wednesday, August 6, to Thursday, August 7.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), which has become a tool of the government against opposition media, imposed a 5-day screen blackout and an administrative fine on TELE 1 on July 24, the Day of Struggle for Press Freedom.
It was reported that if the channel receives another penalty under the same article, the revocation of its license will be on the agenda.
GOING DARK ON THE NIGHT CONNECTING AUGUST 6 TO AUGUST 7
The date on which RTÜK will implement the screen blackout penalty for TELE 1 has been set. According to TELE 1, unless a stay of execution is issued, TELE 1 screens will go dark on the night connecting Wednesday, August 6, to Thursday, August 7.
On the other hand, it was reported that Tele 1 will apply to the court for a stay of execution regarding the 5-day screen blackout penalty imposed by RTÜK, and that if the application results in a negative outcome, TELE 1 screens will go dark.
