TELE1's broadcast suspension penalty has ended

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) penalized the channel due to statements made by Merdan Yanardağ on TELE1, where he said, "July 15 was an Islamist coup attempt. The AKP government is primarily responsible for this coup." RTÜK imposed a 5-day broadcast suspension and a 5 percent administrative fine on TELE1.

Following this penalty, TELE1 took the decision to court. Initially, the court issued a stay of execution on RTÜK's decision. However, this decision was later overturned.

Following the rejection of the request for a stay of execution, TELE1 appealed to a higher court. However, the higher court also did not overturn the RTÜK decision that had lifted the stay of execution. As a result, TELE1's broadcasts were suspended for 5 days, starting from midnight between August 31 and September 1.
