TGC announces winners of the 66th Turkey Journalism Achievement Awards

The Journalists Association of Turkey (TGC), the country's most established professional organization, has announced this year's winners of the awards, which have been presented in the fields of press, television-radio, and internet journalism since 1959.

According to the statement made by the TGC, the date of the award ceremony will be announced in the coming days.

SELECTION COMMITTEES

Press Selection Committee

The Selection Committee, consisting of Habertürk columnist Ayşe Özek Karasu, Birgün website Editorial Coordinator Berkant Gültekin, Hürriyet newspaper Editorial Director Emre Oral, Sabah newspaper sports columnist Gürcan Bilgiç, freelance cameraman Gürsel Çelikkanat, Nasıl Bir Ekonomi newspaper Chairman of the Board Hakan Güldağ, Cumhuriyet newspaper culture and arts editor Öznur Oğraş Çolak, Milliyet newspaper Managing Editor Pınar Aktaş, and Sol Haber website Editor-in-Chief Uğur Güç, met at the Journalists Association of Turkey on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Ayşe Özek Karasu was elected as the Chair of the Selection Committee, and Berkant Gültekin was elected as the secretary.

Television-Radio Selection Committee

The Selection Committee, consisting of Halk TV editor Dürdane Kırçuval, TRT İstanbul Radio producer Esin Yolçınar, Medyascope news manager Göksel Göksu, NOW TV 'Çalar Saat' program host İlker Karagöz, journalist Mustafa Aşcıoğlu, TGC Secretary General Sibel Güneş, communication academic Prof. Dr. Şükran Kuyucak Esen, NTV news manager Yağız Şenkal, and Star TV news editor-in-chief Zafer Balkan, met at the Journalists Association of Turkey on Friday, March 7, 2025. Mustafa Aşcıoğlu was elected as the Chair of the Selection Committee, and Yağız Şenkal was elected as the secretary.

Internet Selection Committee

The Selection Committee, consisting of TGC Board Member Atilla Dişbudak, journalist Aslı Öymen, Nefes Newspaper columnist Deniz Zeyrek, Diken news site founder Harun Simavi, journalist Ruhi Sanyer, TGC Ballot Committee Secretary Serkut Bozkurt, and Cumhuriyet Books Publishing content editor Ümit Aslanbay, met at the Journalists Association of Turkey on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Aslı Öymen was elected as the Chair of the Selection Committee, and Ümit Aslanbay was elected as the Secretary.

Women's News Selection Committee

In accordance with the regulations, the Selection Committee, consisting of Women Journalists Commission members Ayşegül Aydoğan Atakan, Ayten Serin İnsel, Çiğdem Yılmaz, İrem Barutçu, Mesude Demir, Semra Kardeşoğlu Kanar, and Şükran Pakkan, met via Zoom on Friday, February 28, 2025, to evaluate the Women's News submissions. Ayşegül Aydoğan Atakan was elected as the Chair of the Selection Committee, and Çiğdem Yılmaz was elected as the Secretary.
