Trial of journalists Mustafa Büyüksipahi and Barış Pehlivan adjourned
The sixth hearing of the trial against former Cumhuriyet newspaper Publication Coordinator and 12punto Editor-in-Chief Mustafa Büyüksipahi and Cumhuriyet columnist and journalist Barış Pehlivan, charged with "insulting a public official" due to reports concerning Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) member Hamit Kocabey, has been adjourned until July 3.
The sixth hearing of the trial against former Cumhuriyet newspaper Publication Coordinator and 12punto Editor-in-Chief Mustafa Büyüksipahi and Cumhuriyet columnist and journalist Barış Pehlivan, charged with "insulting a public official" due to reports concerning Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) member Hamit Kocabey, was held at the Ankara 19th Criminal Court of First Instance.
According to MLSA; Pehlivan’s lawyer Onat Doğu Akoluk stated that his client wished to be present at the hearing to provide a statement against the prosecutor's opinion, but had another hearing today at the Istanbul 15th Criminal Court of First Instance. Therefore, he requested that a new hearing date be set for his client to present his defense.
The hearing was adjourned until July 3 at 14:00 for Pehlivan’s defense to be heard.
