TÜİK announces: Number of newspapers and circulation decline, internet news sites continue their rise

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released its 2025 Periodical Publication Statistics. The data revealed a decline in the number, circulation, and staffing of newspapers that publish official announcements, while both the number and employment figures for internet news sites have increased.

Accordingly, the number of newspapers publishing official announcements fell from 753 in 2024 to 659 in 2025, a decrease of 12.5 percent. Of these newspapers, 95.9 percent were local, 3.3 percent were national, and 0.8 percent were regional.

The total annual circulation of newspapers also showed a decline. In 2025, the total circulation of newspapers publishing official announcements decreased by 15.1 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 392 million 797 thousand 801. Of this circulation, 81.9 percent came from national, 17.7 percent from local, and 0.4 percent from regional newspapers.

THE RISE IN DIGITAL CONTINUED
