FAREWELL LETTER MEETS READERS
The expected article was published in Sözcü newspaper today. Uğur Dündar announced that he has left the newspaper, stating that he is ending his tenure as a columnist, a role he has held since 2012.
In his article titled "Farewell," Dündar used the following expressions:
"I started writing for SÖZCÜ newspaper in 2012. I never forget, we had run a successful advertising campaign and increased the circulation from 75 thousand to 125 thousand, gaining 50 thousand in circulation. (At that time, there was no SÖZCÜ TV.)
In these 13 years that passed like the wind and were full of beautiful memories, thousands of my articles were published. Then my TV programs came to the screen. I would like to thank Mr. Burak Akbay very much for these 13 years, which passed with complete editorial independence and a bond of affection, where not even a comma of any of them was touched. Also, to all my dear colleagues at every level of our newspaper, television, and website...
What suits us is to say this truth, which we expressed at every opportunity while working, even after leaving SÖZCÜ.
Yes, we have reached the end of the road. No one told me to 'go,' but today I am leaving SÖZCÜ newspaper and SÖZCÜ TV.
With endless thanks for the support of you, my dear friends, who have always been by my side during my difficult times...
Goodbye, stay healthy, stay with love.
Uğur Dündar."
