Artifacts from the Hittites to be exhibited in South Korea

Within the scope of the "sister city protocol" signed between Çorum Municipality and Gimhae Municipality, administrators from Seoul and Gimhae museums have arrived in Çorum.

The Korean museum officials, accompanied by Çorum Deputy Mayor Turhan Candan, toured the Çorum Museum and received information about the artifacts from Museum Director Metin Çakar and Sapinuva Excavation Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Önder İpek.

In his statement to reporters, Candan said that Çorum and the Hittites would be introduced in detail to the South Korean public in the exhibitions that will begin in South Korea on October 7.

Stating that experts from South Korea came to Çorum to see the artifacts that will be exhibited there, Candan noted that the inventory work would be completed shortly and the historical artifacts to be sent to South Korea for a temporary period would be determined.

Gimhae National Museum Director Yun Hyeung-won also stated that the Hittite artifacts would be presented to the public in the capital, Seoul, in March 2025, following the exhibition to be held in Gimhae in October.

Hyeung-won stated that they were excited, noting that the Hittite artifacts would be exhibited abroad for the first time in South Korea.

Seoul Museum Director Jiyeon Kim noted that the artifacts from the Hittites would meet with the South Korean public through a beautiful exhibition.
