Communist Party of Israel: "The Netanyahu government bears full responsibility for the tension"

The Communist Party of Israel (CPI) and the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash), in a statement regarding the rapidly escalating military clashes between Hamas and Israeli forces, criticized the criminal occupation policy of the far-right Netanyahu government and highlighted the serious dangers it poses to regional peace. 

The statement said, "The crimes committed by the fascist right-wing government to maintain the occupation are leading to a regional war that must be stopped. Even in such difficult times, we reiterate our firm condemnation of any harm to innocent civilians and call for civilians to be kept away from the bloodshed. We extend our condolences to all families of the victims of the occupation, both Arabs and Jews." 

 The CPI and Hadash placed full responsibility for the sharp and dangerous escalation that has occurred in the last few hours, costing the lives of many innocent citizens, on the fascist right-wing government and stated the following:

"After a shocking week in which settlers, under the protection of their government, ran rampant in the occupied territories, disrespected the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and carried out another massacre in Huwara, we woke up this morning to a very serious escalation that puts the entire region at risk in a regional and dangerous war that the right-wing government has been fueling since day one. What happened today shows how dangerously the Netanyahu government and the settlers are dragging the entire region and emphasizes once again that there is no way to manage or militarily resolve the conflict - there is only one solution: to end the occupation and strive to recognize the legitimate demands and rights of the Palestinian people. Ending the occupation and establishing a just peace are the distinct and shared interests of the two peoples in this country. The CPI and Hadash warn against acts of revenge targeting Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, especially residents of mixed cities and unrecognized villages in the Negev, who have already paid a heavy price due to the state's neglect of their lives and the lack of infrastructure in their settlements. In the face of this reality, it is the duty of sane forces in Israel, both Jews and Arabs, to raise a sharp and clear voice against any attempt to incite all peoples or take the law into their own hands, and to promote joint activities that express the desire for a normative life without occupation, discrimination, and supremacy, and with peace, equality, and true democracy for all."
