DP's Aksoy makes 'Hatay' revelation: CHP should not hold any Justice Rallies

Democrat Party Deputy Chair İlay Aksoy stated that the AKP did not re-nominate its mayors in the region affected by the February 6 earthquake for the upcoming local elections, and that the CHP should not have re-nominated Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş.

In her post, İlay Aksoy stated, "Despite Hatay having the highest number of deaths, injuries, and destruction, the CHP is entering the 2024 elections again with the incumbent Mayor Lütfü Savaş."

Drawing attention to the fact that the AKP did not re-nominate the mayors of Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, and Adıyaman who were in office during the February 6 earthquakes for the upcoming local elections, İlay Aksoy warned the CHP regarding Hatay. In her post, Aksoy asked, "Won't the AKP say to all the people of the region during the elections, 'We took responsibility, we did what was necessary, we changed our candidates, but the CHP took no responsibility, does not care about you, leaves you abandoned, and we are the ones in power, we will solve it'?"

AKP will enter the elections with new candidates in Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, and Adıyaman

Stating that there were 12,622 deaths, 9,243 injuries, and 7,307 destroyed buildings in Kahramanmaraş during the February 6 earthquakes, Aksoy said, "The AKP is entering the 2024 elections with a new candidate, Fırat Gögel, instead of the incumbent Mayor Hayrettin Güngör." Stating that there were 1,393 deaths, 9,108 injuries, and 4,238 destroyed buildings in Malatya, İlay Aksoy reminded that the AKP also changed the incumbent Mayor Selahattin Gürkan there and will enter the elections with a new candidate, Sami Er.

İlay Aksoy also reminded that the AKP applied the same practice in Adıyaman. Reminding that the toll of the February 6 earthquakes in Adıyaman was 8,387 deaths, 17,499 injuries, and 5,826 destroyed buildings, Aksoy said, "The AKP changed the incumbent Mayor Süleyman Kılınç in the 2024 elections and is entering with a new candidate, Ziya Polat."

Hatay was the province most affected by the February 6 earthquakes

Reminding that the toll of the February 6 earthquakes in Hatay was 23,065 deaths, 30,762 injuries, and 13,883 destroyed buildings, and emphasizing that Hatay was the city most affected by the earthquake, İlay Aksoy stated that Lütfü Savaş's candidacy was wrong.
