ICJ ruling on Israel! Tantan: "Turkey must follow this case"
Evaluating the International Court of Justice's ruling on Israel, Tantan stated, "Turkey must follow this case."
South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on December 29, accusing it of genocide. The International Court of Justice, located in The Hague, Netherlands, and serving as the UN's judicial organ, has announced its ruling regarding Israel.
The court ruled that it is mandatory for Israel to take all measures to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza and granted Israel one month to implement all necessary precautions.
Former Minister of Interior Sadettin Tantan evaluated the court's decision. In posts shared on his social media account, Tantan stated the following:
"The International Court of Justice beginning proceedings against Israel on charges of genocide is an important issue for our region. Turkey must follow this case. Those who consolidate public squares by shouting 'Gaza' cannot remain spectators to this case.
If you are against Israel's policies, you reach an agreement with Syria, improve relations with Egypt, and address the issue of land sales in Cyprus. If you are not doing these things, you are not sincere. Turkey cannot project a reckless image in foreign policy; it must be clear and decisive.
Israel's theological, economic, and military aggression and influence are a threat to our region. A regional development and defense pact must be established against this threat. South Africa has done what many countries that claim to own the Palestinian cause could not do.
South Africa's legal move will bring them many gains in international politics. Yet, Turkey could have achieved this gain. Turkey faces very important issues in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Aegean, and Syria. The key to solving these issues is political will.
If the understanding of a strong state and strong politics is put into effect, Turkey will solve the issues before it with its own theses. For this, the political mechanism must establish a 'Turkey Alliance' to take joint decisions and act on critical issues in foreign policy."
