The Kemalist Enlightenment Association held a panel on the "New Constitution" in Gallipoli, Çanakkale.

Setting out with the spirit of the Kuva-yı Milliye (National Forces) in the light of Atatürk's principles and revolutions, the Kemalist Enlightenment Association held its first event in Gallipoli on December 8.

The "New Constitution" panel, which featured an opening speech by Kemalist Enlightenment Association President Kemal Anadol and was moderated by 22nd and 23rd Term CHP İzmir Deputy Bülent Baratalı, was attended by National Center Secretary General Haluk Dural and 23rd and 24th Term CHP Istanbul Deputy Prof. Dr. Nur Serter as speakers.

Ali Kaya, a member of the Board of Directors of the Kemalist Enlightenment Association, who presented the well-attended panel, stated that Kemalism is the salvation prescription for oppressed nations.

Kemalist Enlightenment Association President Kemal Anadol began his opening speech by touching upon the importance of Gallipoli in Turkish history, saying, "Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kemal's emergence on the historical stage and the great defense of the homeland here is the preface to the War of Independence."

Stating that the point we have reached step by step since November 10, 1938, is clear, Anadol continued his speech as follows: "We are witnessing counter-revolutions against the revolutions. The greatest assurance of this nation is again Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Atatürk says, 'There are no hopeless situations. There are hopeless people. I have never lost my hope.' We are in conditions that confirm Atatürk's words. All Atatürkists, Kemalists, must ensure the unity of National Forces and we must stop this reactionary tide."

Panel moderator and 22nd and 23rd Term CHP İzmir Deputy Bülent Baratalı stated that a one-man regime is being implemented in Turkey today.

In his speech, National Center Secretary General Haluk Dural said, "The 1921 and 1924 Constitutions of the Republic of Turkey are the constitutions made by Gazi Marshal Mustafa Kemal and his comrades-in-arms as the 'Original Constituent Power' of the independent Republic of Turkey, which they established by defeating the occupiers with our War of Independence. No one can change the first 4 articles of our Constitution, where the fundamental ideology of our state is written."

Prof. Dr. Nur Serter, who began her speech by asking, "Whose agenda is the new constitution on? It is seen that this issue is not on the agenda in any public opinion poll. It is on the agenda of the President who wants to extend his reign. This is a trap," said, "Imperialism's agenda has long been to establish a political Islamist structure and for us to transition to a federative structure. This is what is desired."

Serter also pointed out that the rate of those who see themselves as Atatürkist and nationalist in Turkey is around 80 percent, and said that there is no room for hopelessness.
