Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva from the Turkic World to Develop Water Sports on the Asian Continent
Uzbekistan's Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva has been elected Vice President of World Aquatics for the Asian Region.
Shahnoza Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva, First Vice President of the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan—one of the five members of the Organization of Turkic States—was elected Vice President of World Aquatics for the Asian Region at the World Aquatics Bureau General Congress held in Singapore on July 25, 2025.
WATER SPORTS TO BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD IN ASIA
With this significant role within the World Aquatics Federation, Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva will be responsible for the promotion and development of swimming and other water sports across the Asian continent, which has a population of billions, including China and India.
Representing the interests of approximately 44 national water sports federations on the Asian continent, Mirziyoyeva will actively contribute to the activities of various commissions and working groups.
This position is expected to offer new opportunities to athletes and federations in the region, serving as a strategic development not only for Uzbekistan but also for the Turkic world and regional sports diplomacy.
The World Aquatics Bureau, consisting of 40 members, is the highest governing body that determines the federation's global policies and strategies. Vice presidents elected from the continents are chosen at the General Congress held every two years and represent their regions at the international level.
