Statement from that party: We will not field a candidate in Istanbul, we are supporting Ekrem İmamoğlu!
There is little time left until the March 31 local elections. The candidates of the parties and the stances they will take are beginning to become clear.
The People's Liberation Party (HKP), which is participating in the local elections and has announced its candidates in some provinces and districts, has decided to support Ekrem İmamoğlu in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral election.
In a statement made by the HKP, it was said, "Due to the situation our country has been brought into by the AKP government, we will support Ekrem İmamoğlu for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoralty in the March 31 local elections. In districts where we anticipate that the vote margin between the AKP and the CHP will likely be small, we will again support CHP candidates."
On the other hand, it was emphasized that the HKP will enter the elections with its own logo and candidates in 20 districts outside of Istanbul's critical districts.
