Yeni Akit columnist criticizes with these words: 'The rotten judiciary is frightening'

In these days when the corruption and bribery network in the judiciary is occupying the public agenda, Yeni Akit columnist Sinan Burhan criticized the Turkish judiciary.

Burhan listed his criticisms by saying, "Trust in the judiciary is at rock bottom. In recent polls, the judiciary is the least trusted institution. There is almost no trust left in the justice mechanism. People are talking about a judiciary where cases drag on, files are never closed, and those with money escape all kinds of crimes while those without are punished. The faith of the state is justice. Where there is no justice, nothing grows. Where there is no justice, there is no production. Where there is no justice, there is no morality."

"Recently, there has been talk in some newspapers, on social media, on television, and among the public about gang formation, irregularities, and corruption in the judiciary. These complaints are not just in the media but are also discussed daily among our citizens. Our people complain a lot about the judiciary. They are making valid criticisms.

Of course, honest, conscientious, and moral members of the judiciary are the crown jewels of our heads. They are the ones who keep this country standing. They are the foundation of this country. I respectfully salute the honorable members of the judiciary in this country.

Businessmen and mafia leaders tried for drugs, mafia activities, money laundering, and smuggling have recently found partners and associates within the justice system. We see that those with money get away with it, and even if those with money receive the heaviest sentences, they find loopholes after a while and are acquitted.

Corruption feeds lawlessness, and lawlessness feeds corruption. A person first sells drugs, engages in usury, seizes property, and commits looting. There are allegations that they use the money earned from this to bribe judges, prosecutors, and public officials. Go out on the street and ask the citizens, and you will see that what I am saying is true.

Our people believe this. Again, I say, I exclude the clean, conscientious members of the judiciary.

They are the crown jewels of our heads. There has been an increase in the fight against mafia and drug barons in recent days. Our nation supports the steps taken in this direction. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya's fight against mafia and criminal organizations is supported by society. Likewise, the efforts of Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç to fix the justice system and rebuild trust are also a positive development. Mr. Minister Tunç is an experienced and conscientious statesman. He must increase trust in the judiciary during this period.

Artificial intelligence or other technological solutions could be considered to ensure more transparency and accountability in the justice system. However, such changes must be implemented carefully and should not harm the independence of the judiciary.

It is important that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasizes the values of justice, morality, and humanity.
