Striking remarks from Fatih Altaylı: 'Don't be funny, don't make me laugh'

Fatih Altaylı spoke about the current agenda on his official YouTube account. Altaylı made statements regarding drugs, cigarettes, and illegal betting in the country through the Dilan Polat case.

2 TONS AND 840 KG OF COCAINE SEIZED LAST YEAR

Altaylı included the following words in the video he published.

Fatih Altaylı: "Is Dilan Polat the only reason Turkey is on the grey list? That is the question everyone is asking. What money are Dilan Polat and her likes laundering, whose money are they laundering? The answer is not easy. There is so much money in Turkey that needs to be laundered that you would be surprised. The state's official data says this, not me. For example, the amount of cocaine seized last year was 2 tons and 840 kilograms."

"A large portion of this was seized at customs by units affiliated with the Ministry of Trade. This amount does not include the quantities that set out from abroad to go to Turkey. When added, the amount of cocaine seized in Turkey before it could be put on the market approaches 10 tons. Let's be optimistic, let's give a 50 percent seizure rate, and assume that the amount not seized and put on the market is the same. 10 tons, that is 10 thousand kilos, that is 10 million grams of cocaine were sold in Turkey. Since the price per gram is approximately 150 dollars, it means there is approximately 1 billion 500 million dollars of black money annually just from cocaine sales. This is an optimistic estimate assuming it is half of what was seized. The reality could be twice or three times this amount... The amount of heroin seized in Turkey the previous year was 22 tons. Let's be optimistic and assume that an equal amount was put on the market. That's another 2 billion 200 million dollars! That makes 3 billion 700 million dollars. Seems like a lot, right! Wait, the really big money is coming. Cigarette smuggling."

"THERE IS A PRODUCT CALLED IQOS"

"I have been writing for years, there is a product called IQOS that enters and is sold in Turkey legally. This product comes in through illegal channels, but it is sold everywhere, especially in high-income areas, and there are even those who do home delivery. Including this, the annual illegal cigarette market in Turkey was approximately 80 billion TL. That is 4 billion dollars at the exchange rate of that day. That is as much as the total of heroin and cocaine. (The tax loss here also amounts to at least 3 billion dollars) Did that make it almost 8 billion dollars for you?"

"And that is with an optimistic estimate. 8 billion dollars that needs to be washed, cleaned. This 8 billion dollars, that is 232 billion Turkish Liras, does not include amounts originating from crimes like illegal betting that are never caught. Looking at these amounts, let's calculate how many Dilan Polats are needed to launder all of this. That is why we have all been thinking about the tip of the iceberg for weeks.
