The US needs war: Debt stock to double
Retired Rear Admiral Cem Gürdeniz commented on the support the US has provided to Israel in the Palestine war.
In the Israel-Palestine war, the US has sided with Israel. In fact, the US was one of the countries that voted against Russia's call for a ceasefire in Gaza at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Retired Rear Admiral Cem Gürdeniz commented on the stance the US has taken in the Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Palestine wars.
Gürdeniz shared a table of the US's cumulative revenues and expenditures as of the 2023 fiscal year on his social media account. Emphasizing that the US needs war to sustain its economy, Gürdeniz wrote the following:
“The US debt stock has reached $33.5 trillion as of today. Although the 2023 budget revenue is $4.9 trillion, expenditures are $6.3 trillion. The deficit is covered by borrowing. To continue its economy through credit and borrowing, the US pays $2 billion in interest every day. If the process continues this way, the debt stock will double by 2053. In such a conjuncture, like every collapsing empire, it needs war. However, today's geopolitical conditions turn such a war into a gamble. In this environment where Israel has destroyed all American Middle East plans and even faced the resetting of the Camp David, Oslo, and Abraham Accords processes; where the West has left Ukraine to its fate; and where Asian powers are on the rise, it is very difficult to sit at the gambling table from a position of strength.”
