Theodorakis’ 100th birthday to be commemorated with concerts in İzmir and Chios
The Communist Party of Turkey and the Communist Party of Greece will organize concerts in İzmir and on the island of Chios for the 100th anniversary of Mikis Theodorakis' birth.
World-renowned Greek intellectual and composer Mikis Theodorakis will be commemorated on his 100th birthday with events organized by the Communist Party of Turkey and the Communist Party of Greece.
At the events to be held in Chios and İzmir by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), artists from Greece and Turkey will perform Theodorakis' compositions together.
At the event in İzmir, TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan and KKE Political Bureau member Nikos Sofianos will greet the audience.
The event in İzmir will take place on September 21 at 19.00 at the Bostanlı Democracy Square.
The artists who will perform Theodorakis' compositions are as follows:
From Greece: Doros Demosthenous (soloist), Angeliki Toumpanaki (soloist), Thodoris Oikonomou (conductor)
From Turkey: Gülcan Altan and her orchestra, Guest: Muammer Ketencoğlu
