5 resignations in Çiğli following Mayor Yıldız's switch to AKP! Political landscape shifts in Municipal Council
Following Onur Emrah Yıldız's decision to join the AKP, 5 CHP members in the Çiğli Municipal Council have resigned from their party; two deputy mayors have also stepped down from their posts.
Following Çiğli Mayor Onur Emrah Yıldız's resignation from the CHP and his subsequent move to the AKP, a series of new resignations have occurred, impacting the political balance in the district. It has been reported that 5 CHP members in the Çiğli Municipal Council have left their party.
It was stated that 4 of the resigning council members will join the YENI Party, while 1 member will continue as an independent. With this development, the number of CHP members in the Çiğli Municipal Council has dropped to 2.
According to the new composition of the council, the number of YENI Party members has risen to 15, while the number of independent council members has become 2. The AKP has 11 council members, and the MHP has 1.
Following Yıldız's switch to the AKP, resignations also occurred within the municipal administration. It was learned that council member Şahin Çalı, who served as a deputy mayor, and deputy mayor Ronay Gezici have resigned from their positions.
The successive resignations have altered the arithmetic of the municipal council in Çiğli and initiated a new phase in local politics.
