7th wave of operations targeting İBB... 24 suspects referred to courthouse

Istanbul municipality executives and bureaucrats from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) have been detained as part of a wide-ranging corruption investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

24 people detained in simultaneous operations carried out across Istanbul, Antalya, Çanakkale, Trabzon, Bursa, and Giresun were referred to the courthouse after undergoing health checks.

ALLEGATIONS OF BID-RIGGING IN TENDERS

According to the allegations in the investigation file, it is claimed that bid-rigging occurred in certain tenders at İETT and İSFALT, both affiliated with İBB. Detention orders had been issued for a total of 25 suspects, including tender officials and members of the commissions involved in those tenders. The 24 people detained were referred to the courthouse after undergoing health checks at Bayrampaşa State Hospital.
