A 'peace process' dialogue in the parliamentary lobby: Babacan recalls the past, Efkan Ala makes a striking analogy

As discussions on the 'framework law' continue in the TBMM, a notable conversation took place between political party representatives in the parliamentary lobby.

TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala approached DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan, and New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) Chairman Fatih Erbakan, who were in the lobby.

It was reported that Kurtulmuş and Ala spoke with Babacan about the 'framework law,' which has sparked public debate after being accepted by the Justice Committee and brought to the TBMM agenda.

During the meeting, Babacan reminded Efkan Ala of the 'peace process' period conducted approximately 15 years ago. It was reported that Babacan, recalling that he was Deputy Prime Minister and Ala was the Undersecretary to the Prime Minister at that time, said, 'We have come this far by rolling along since that day.' he said.

It was stated that Efkan Ala responded to Babacan's words with a 'bamboo tree' analogy. It was noted that Ala said, 'You water it for years and it is not visible, but then it grows all at once. That is why I compare it to a bamboo tree. Nothing goes to waste.'
