A striking dialogue before Cemil Tugay's resignation: A last-minute phone call from Özgür Özel

New insider information has emerged regarding İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, who has become one of the most talked-about figures in the political agenda following his decision to resign from the CHP. Journalist Şaban Sevinç shared the details of the phone conversation Tugay held with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel before his resignation in a post on his social media account.

RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS MADE AFTER THE RESIGNATION

Şaban Sevinç stated that various assessments regarding Cemil Tugay's resignation were being made on some television channels.

Sevinç expressed that he did not agree with comments such as "Tugay resigned despite Özgür Özel's instructions," "he will be left alone in the municipal council," "he acted prematurely against the expulsion process targeting Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu," and "the CHP municipal council majority could remove Tugay from the mayoralty."

"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL CALLED TUGAY AND ASKED WHAT WAS HAPPENING"

According to the insider information shared by journalist Şaban Sevinç, Özgür Özel called Cemil Tugay on the phone after learning that he was considering resigning.

Allegedly, during the conversation, Özel asked Tugay to reconsider his resignation decision, stating, "It would be better if you did not resign."

It was claimed that Tugay explained his discomfort to the CHP Chairman due to the developments in İzmir and the situation that had emerged within the party.

"I CANNOT DIGEST WHAT IS HAPPENING"

According to Şaban Sevinç's post, Cemil Tugay said the following to Özgür Özel during the phone call:

"I cannot digest what is happening. People in İzmir are pressuring me every day to take action against the decisions of the incompetent management in the CHP. There is a lot of pressure. By resigning, I am also clearing the way for you, Mr. Chairman."

Allegedly, Tugay stated that the decision he made was shaped by the political atmosphere in İzmir and the demands coming from the grassroots, beyond being a personal preference.

"WE WILL MEET AGAIN AT THE FATHER'S HEARTH"

According to the information shared by Şaban Sevinç, although Özgür Özel tried to change Cemil Tugay's decision, he respected this choice in the final stage.

According to the post, Özel bid farewell to Tugay at the end of the conversation with these words:

"Alright, Mayor Cemil, I respect it. Hopefully, we will meet again at the father's hearth."

These expressions stood out as one of the notable details in political circles.

Şaban Sevinç claimed that he also had the alleged phone conversation between Cemil Tugay and Özgür Özel confirmed by CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Çağatay Güç.

According to what Sevinç shared, Çağatay Güç stated the following:

"I was already by Mayor Cemil's side when he was having this conversation with our Chairman. There is no problem at all."

"WE WILL WORK AS IF NO RESIGNATION EVER HAPPENED"

Allegedly, Çağatay Güç also stated that Cemil Tugay's departure from party membership would not affect the working order in İzmir.

It was reported that Güç expressed that Tugay and the CHP municipal council group would continue their cooperation, making the following assessment:

"It is not a problem that Mayor Cemil resigned from membership. As the İzmir organization, we will continue to work holistically."

Furthermore, it was claimed that Tugay and the CHP municipal council group would continue to act together "as if no resignation had ever happened."
