Abdulkadir Selvi compares Erdoğan to 'Ecevit'... Will he mark his retirement with a 3rd resolution process?

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made notable statements at his party's group meeting.

Referring to the Kurdish issue, Erdoğan said, “However, every time, we encountered a wall, a betrayal, a baseness. Those who fed on the problem prevented its resolution. Those who fed on terrorism did not want terrorism to end. Those who profited from violence did not consent to the end of violence. Those who saw that Turkey would grow in every field with the strengthening of brotherhood set up barriers in front of brotherhood, set traps, and activated their secret apparatuses. Rest assured, we paid a heavy price, experienced many disappointments, saw much betrayal, and were even literally stabbed in the back.”

ECEVIT COMPARISON

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi compared him to Ecevit and noted the following:

"This 'wall' metaphor is very important. I was conducting an interview with Ecevit. He was a leader who had been subjected to assassination attempts. When I asked him why he did not shed light on these assassinations after becoming Prime Minister, he said, 'I went and went. I encountered a wall. I could not get past the wall.'

That wall was a wall that even prime ministers could not get past. It was the wall of Gladio. It was the wall of the deep state. Erdoğan spoke of a similar wall regarding the resolution of the Kurdish issue."

A POLITICAL RETIREMENT?

Selvi also stated the following:

Erdoğan has a feature that distinguishes him from other leaders. He does not give up on fighting for the values he believes in.

He made a pledge regarding the new process. He said, “We have never refrained, and we will not refrain, from doing whatever is necessary for the bright future of Turkey and our nation. Because this is an issue of such importance that it will affect the lives of entire generations, not just one period or one segment. With God's permission, if the Lord grants life and opportunity, we intend to crown our 40-year political life spent in service to the nation by completely removing this issue from our country's agenda.”
