Şamil Şener, the son of AKP founder and former minister Abdüllatif Şener, has been arrested after being detained for allegedly insulting President Erdoğan near the Presidential Palace.
Şamil Şener, the son of AKP founder and former minister Abdüllatif Şener, has been arrested on charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
HE HURLED INSULTS IN FRONT OF THE PALACE
According to allegations, while passing in front of the Presidential Palace, Şamil Şener used insulting language directed at President Erdoğan and was stopped in his vehicle following a report by police officers stationed at the Palace. Şener was removed from the vehicle by police teams, detained, and taken to the police station.
Following his processing at the police station, Şener was referred to the prosecutor's office and subsequently arrested by the court on charges of insulting the President.
HE HAD TAKEN HIS GRANDMOTHER HOSTAGE
Abdüllatif Şener's family had previously come to the public's attention due to a tragic incident. Şamil Şener's brother, Bedirhan Şener, had taken his grandmother hostage and killed her, claiming at the time that he had psychological issues. These events have caused the family to be a subject of public discussion once again.
