The Burcu Köksal earthquake in Afyonkarahisar... Is the majority changing hands?

Allegations regarding Burcu Köksal switching to the AK Party, one of the most discussed topics in politics in recent days, continue to remain on the agenda with new developments. Following the widespread public reaction to the claims, journalist İsmail Saymaz shared striking behind-the-scenes information.

CLAIM THAT "6 CHP COUNCIL MEMBERS MAY ALSO RESIGN"

İsmail Saymaz suggested that along with Burcu Köksal, six other CHP municipal council members could resign. Saymaz stated that if these individuals join the AK Party, the majority in the Afyonkarahisar Municipal Council could change hands.

The allegations raised have also brought about discussions regarding a potential new balance in city politics.

RESIGNATION CLAIMS FOR THREE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITIES AS WELL

In another piece of behind-the-scenes information brought to the agenda by Saymaz, some CHP-held municipalities in Afyonkarahisar were mentioned. According to the claim, it was suggested that the mayors of Dinar, Evciler, and Karadilli could also resign from the CHP.

No official statement has been made by the relevant mayors regarding these allegations.

"I COULD NOT REACH MS. BURCU"

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the allegations about Burcu Köksal during a television program he attended recently.

Stating that he could not reach Köksal, Özel used the following expressions:

"Her phone was probably off when I called, but my colleagues said, 'We are calling, she is not answering.' Perhaps it didn't open once when I called, and it might have been turned off afterward. In other words, I could not speak with her, I could not reach her. Apart from this, of course, so many days are passing. In politics, two days is a very long time. A rumor is circulating. If there is no corporate statement from her or the municipality on this matter, the passing time strengthens the claim."

Özel stated that there are intense public allegations that she will switch to the AK Party, and noted that the lack of an official denial on this matter is noteworthy.

In the continuation of his statement, Özgür Özel made the following assessments:

"A lot was said here about her joining the AK Party with a ceremony to be held next week. No denial came."

Özel also stated that similar allegations had previously come to the agenda for other mayors, and gave the example of the Keçiören Municipality.

Referring to his past conversations with Burcu Köksal, Özel used the following expressions:

"She had previously promised me, 'I have no intention of switching anywhere.' The AK Party media was talking about some of her husband's business affairs. I called her and said, 'We will stand behind you. If your husband did something wrong, divorce your husband if necessary, but do not do this to your party. Do not be a partner to the wrong; the party will stand behind you like a fortress.'"
