Ahmet Özer's request for release denied
A decision has been made to continue the detention of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer. His lawyer argued that there are serious issues with the court's rejection decision and that the assessment was inconsistent with the petition submitted.
Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was arrested on October 30, 2024, on charges of "being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization." Today, it was announced that the request for his release made to the Istanbul 1st Criminal Court of Peace was denied.
REACTION TO THE COURT'S REJECTION
Lawyer Hüseyin Ersöz made a statement following the denial of the release request.
Ersöz stated that the court's rejection decision did not align with the petition they had filed and criticized the judicial process. Lawyer Ersöz expressed his concerns that the decision was unfair, stating, "The court's assessment is inconsistent with the legal grounds in our petition."
