Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Istanbul MP Ahmet Şık made a striking claim regarding Furkan Torlak in a post on his social media account.
Şık alleged that Torlak, the former coordinator of the Presidential Communications Directorate's Center for Combating Disinformation, has been removed from his post at the Ministry of Justice.
In his post, Ahmet Şık argued that Torlak had been directing public opinion through a troll and media manipulation network that he claimed was linked to the fake identity "Mehmet Kap".
Şık claimed that Torlak was "removed from his post as of today."
“The Palace Regime is trying to shed the filth and ballast it can no longer carry.
The real solution will be found not by removing a few names from office, but by confronting the mindset that makes this picture possible and settling accounts with the order of robbery.”
WHAT HAPPENED?
Furkan Torlak's name had previously come to the fore during the indictment process prepared against former Habertürk TV Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy and 7 others. It was stated that in the new indictment accepted by the Istanbul 19th High Criminal Court, unlike the first rejected indictment, the names of Torlak and former President of Religious Affairs Mehmet Görmez had been removed.
Journalist Cem Küçük also raised various allegations regarding Torlak in his program on TGRT Haber in December 2025, posing questions about Torlak's appointment process at the Communications Directorate and his assets.
Ahmet Şık had previously directed 9 questions to Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, alleging that a troll and media network had been established within the Ministry using fake identities and phone lines registered to a foreign national in order to manipulate public opinion.
