Ahmet Türk's first comment on PKK's dissolution decision! 'This is not a bargain'

Ahmet Türk, a member of the DEM Party's Imralı Delegation, spoke for the first time regarding the terrorist organization PKK's decision to dissolve. Türk stated, "What is important is the democratization of Turkey and the resolution of problems in a democratic Republic."

Stating that a commission in which all political parties participate should be established in Parliament, Türk said, "There are steps that need to be taken regarding the future of a democratic Turkey. This is an expectation. These are not a bargain; it is about the democratization of Turkey and Turkey embracing its own people, its own citizens."

Ahmet Türk, who served on the Imralı Delegation alongside the late TBMM Deputy Speaker Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Van MP Pervin Buldan, arrived at the Parliament to attend the DEM Party group meeting.

"RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS IN A DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC..."

Speaking to the ANKA News Agency regarding the PKK's dissolution decision before the group meeting, Türk assessed, "Of course, it was a decision we expected. Öcalan had already made a statement on this matter before. We predicted and knew that the organization would comply with this call from Öcalan. May it be beneficial. What is important is the democratization of Turkey. It is the resolution of problems in a democratic Republic."

Stating that there are now duties falling upon the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey), Ahmet Türk said, "The Parliament must fulfill its duty. Ultimately, this will come to the Parliament. And our Parliament, all groups, and all political parties need to take a role that will contribute to the peace of this country. There is benefit in forming a commission in which all political parties in the Parliament participate."

When asked how he expects progress to proceed in practice from now on, Ahmet Türk said, "We will see in time. Of course, there are expectations. Steps that need to be taken regarding a democratic Republic and the future of a democratic Turkey are required. This is an expectation. These are not a bargain; it is about the democratization of Turkey and Turkey embracing its own people and citizens."

RESPONSE TO THE "RIGHT TO HOPE" QUESTION

Regarding the question of whether another visit to Imralı is on the agenda, Türk said, "We don't know. If those conditions are created in time, of course, we will go."

When asked whether the release of Abdullah Öcalan via the "right to hope" is on the table, Ahmet Türk replied, "There is no point in discussing that right now."
