AK Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Murat Kurum: 'Our conscience is clear, our assets and property are all transparent'

Speaking at a press conference regarding the Re-Great Istanbul Rally to be held at the Atatürk Airport Nation's Garden, AK Party IMM Mayoral Candidate Murat Kurum said, "We will continue to wave the flag of the AK Party and the People's Alliance with honor until the end. This sacred cause is the cause of our future. Tomorrow, we will mark the beginning of a glorious victory."

The People's Alliance's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayoral Candidate Murat Kurum held a press conference regarding the Re-Great Istanbul Rally to be held at Atatürk Airport tomorrow at 14:00.

After his speech, Kurum also answered questions from journalists. Murat Kurum was accompanied by AK Party Deputy Chairman Erkan Kandemir, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, and AK Party Istanbul Provincial Women's Branch President Saliha Demirer.

After the press conference, Kurum toured the rally area and received information from officials about the event.

''WE ARE EXCITED BECAUSE WE HAVE 7-8 DAYS LEFT UNTIL WE TAKE OFFICE''

Speaking at the press conference, Kurum said, “We have been in the field for 76 days. We are embracing our citizens by saying 'Istanbul Again, Only Istanbul.' Before the victory we will achieve on March 31, we will be at the Atatürk Airport Nation's Garden tomorrow with the presence of our President, all our district mayors here, and our People's Alliance. We are preparing for a glorious day where we will rehearse for March 31 and experience that enthusiasm here. We are excited because we have 7-8 days left until we take office. Everywhere we go, our brothers and sisters want this change to happen as soon as possible. Our citizens will come here tomorrow in a festive atmosphere. We will protect the future of this glorious city together. We see this city as a trust left to us. We are trying to clearly express that we will protect this trust like the apple of our eye and that the issue is the future of Istanbul. This city has really become tired and overwhelmed during this process. We are facing an environment where living here has become a hardship, the fear of earthquakes is increasing day by day, and the restlessness and insecurity of our citizens are growing. There is an Istanbul tired of indifference and lovelessness. Istanbul was a city where all our brothers and sisters here lived with love and tolerance, and where we were all happy. We want that happiness and peace. We will re-establish that peace together with all Istanbulites on the evening of March 31. We will reunite our Istanbulite brothers and sisters with the services they miss and the social municipalism that started with the AK Party.”

Stating, “For 76 days, we have been explaining our dreams and projects in the field with all our organizations, deputies, and mayors,” Kurum continued his words as follows:
“Tomorrow, with the presence of our President, we will experience this enthusiasm together here at 14:00. Actually, this will be a rehearsal for the festival we will hold at Saraçhane on the evening of March 31. We invite all of Istanbul to this enthusiasm. We want everyone, regardless of their party, to experience this enthusiasm here together. This unity and solidarity here will be the joy of the process in which we will decide on the future of Istanbul. We invite everyone to walk on this path. We invite everyone to share in this joy. Tomorrow, at the meeting where the hearts of all of Turkey and Istanbul will beat at the Atatürk Airport Nation's Garden, we will once again make that call for unity. On this path, with firm steps and firm people, we will experience the March 31 festival. We have been working in the field for 76 days. We spend more time with our organizations than with our families, and they have done a self-sacrificing job. We will continue to wave the flag of the AK Party and the People's Alliance with honor until the end. This sacred cause is the cause of our future. Answering questions from members of the press after the program, Kurum responded to the question, "There is an allegation that you gave a positive EIA report during your ministry period for the project of the house in Kağıthane that is in your declaration of assets. What would you say about this?" by saying, "As the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, we issue EIA reports for every investment in the country and for all major projects. Since you cannot find anything and are working specifically to find something, whatever you look for will be in vain; you will not find it. Our conscience is clear, our assets and property are all transparent. I am a brother of yours who has served as a general manager for 9 years, as Minister of Environment and Urbanization for 5 years, who has carried out tenders worth billions of liras, and who has kept the promises made to our nation with a clear conscience. Today, I am the People's Alliance candidate in Istanbul. I will perform these services with this pride. With this pride, I hope that on April 1, I will protect the rights and laws of our citizens and our Istanbul. I will spend Istanbul's money on Istanbul. I will not spend Istanbul's resources for my own future. I will not spend 500 million liras on billboards by saying we ended waste. I will not make Istanbulites experience these sorrows with photos of bundles of money and images there. Therefore, we will serve Istanbul with all our assets and property."
