AKP had requested the election be cancelled: CHP's Faruk Demir, elected Mayor of Ardahan, receives his certificate of election

Faruk Demir, who was elected Mayor of Ardahan as the CHP candidate, has received his certificate of election and begun his term.

At the ceremony held behind closed doors at the Ardahan Courthouse, Melike Arslantaş, Acting President of the Central District Election Board, presented the certificate to Demir.

The ceremony was attended by CHP Provincial Chairman Yalçın Taştan, party members, and CHP district mayors.

Following the ceremony, Faruk Demir walked to the municipal building with a large group and stated that he would continue his work without any division or discrimination.

Thanking everyone who contributed, Demir said:

"I would like to thank my wife, Zuhal Demir, and all components of democracy. Democracy is a beautiful thing. If you have entered people's hearts, the public appreciates you. We must draw this conclusion from the results of this election. I thank our police force and other institutions for ensuring there were no security issues. We will continue to be the shining star of Turkey. We have 5 years ahead of us. Just as in the previous 5 years, we will make Ardahan a city of happy people without making any distinctions."

AKP HAD REQUESTED THE ELECTION BE CANCELLED

The election in Ardahan, won by the incumbent mayor and CHP candidate Faruk Demir, had initially been cancelled by the District Election Board, which had evaluated an objection from the AKP administration, and a decision was made to repeat it.

However, the Supreme Election Council (YSK) found the CHP's objection justified, overturned the district election board's decision to repeat the elections, and ruled that the certificate of election be given to the winning candidate, Demir.
