AKP makes employees pay the price for March 31: 'I don't have the face to take it to the President'

In the March 31 local elections, the AKP, which fell to the position of the second party after 22 years, made its workers pay the price for the election.

Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz, in his article where he used the expressions, “The bonus paid after every election was not deposited on March 31. No official explanation was made to the employees, and no reason was given,” explained two scenarios being discussed.

Saymaz wrote, “First, it is alleged that Head of Financial and Administrative Affairs Vedat Demiröz said, ‘With these election results, I don't have the face to take the bonus file to the President.’ Second, it is claimed that Demiröz said that cuts would be made everywhere within the scope of austerity measures and that bonuses would not be deposited because they are extra expenses. Either way, the bill is being passed to the employees, who consist mainly of tea servers, service staff, and office personnel.”

"CUTTING THE BONUS MEANS CUTTING THE SALARY"

Saymaz, saying “It doesn't end there,” added, “When the raise was determined at the beginning of the year, it was said, ‘You will receive 15 salaries this year. Your raise rates were calculated accordingly.’ Therefore, not paying the bonuses means cutting from the salary. However, the party's old veterans explain that bonuses were deposited twice even in the repeated 2015 and 2019 elections.”

Saymaz expressed the view, “The AK Party is applying austerity measures not to the party elites and those at the top, but to the laborers and those at the bottom. It is making the laborers, who have no fault, pay the bill for the election defeat.”
