AKP prepares for 'poll workers' for local elections: To begin on February 10

Having announced all its provincial candidates for the local elections to be held on March 31, 2024, the AKP has accelerated its field operations.

The AKP has begun preparations for the training of the SKM personnel it has established in provinces, districts, and some towns across Turkey, as well as the training of poll workers regarding their duties on election day.

In this context, an "Extended Election Affairs Presidents and SKM Presidents Meeting" will be held in Ankara on February 10-11, with the participation of SKM and election affairs presidents, provincial legal experts, and provincial trainers.

Following this, the party will continue the training sessions with regional meetings, organizing 10 regional meetings starting on March 2-3.

"DOES OUR POLL WORKER KNOW THEIR RIGHTS AND THE LAW?"

AKP SKM President Ahmet Özdemir, in his statement regarding the training, referred to the meeting to be held on February 10-11 and said that within the scope of the training there, the programs prepared by SKM presidents and managers regarding the candidates' meetings, visits, and rallies during the propaganda process will be reviewed and any deficiencies will be addressed.

Stating that election affairs presidents will also attend the meeting, Özdemir noted the following:

"The distinct feature of our election affairs presidents compared to the SKM is that they are preparing for election day. Does our poll worker know their rights and the law? Do our school building supervisors and election board officials know them? We are conducting training on these matters. Later, when we go to the region, we conduct this training with our legal experts in that province. Once we have trained our legal experts, we have trained election affairs presidents and legal experts. They then train our poll workers and observers in their own provinces and districts.

The training we provide to our friends is not about reporting a problem they see, but about solving the problem on the spot. If they cannot solve it, they apply to the legal expert, and if they still cannot solve it, to our experts at the headquarters. We are developing their problem-solving skills. The problems we have encountered in all elections to date and the problems likely to be encountered are being conveyed to our personnel within an educational program."
