AKP responds to Bahçeli's call for intervention in Gaza
As the conflict between Israel and Palestine continues, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made headlines with his call for "intervention in Gaza." Bahçeli, who had given Israel a 24-hour ultimatum, had stated, "I would be a coward if I do not set out" if Turkey did not take action once that period expired. The first statement from the AKP regarding this move by Bahçeli has arrived.
The MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, who made headlines with his remarks, "If a ceasefire is not achieved within 24 hours, Turkey must do what is necessary," has received a response from the AKP.
Bahçeli had said, "If a ceasefire is not achieved within 24 hours, and if bombs continue to be dropped on the oppressed, Turkey must intervene immediately and do whatever is required by its historical, humanitarian, and faith-based responsibilities.
Taking on the mission of protecting and watching over Gaza is the legacy of our ancestors.
The Republic of Turkey is ready and capable of making Gaza a city of smiling children and an Islamic land where our brothers and sisters will live in peace and security."
"THEY ENGAGED IN A MOCKING SMEAR CAMPAIGN"
Speaking at his party's group meeting, Bahçeli reiterated his call and delivered new messages.
Bahçeli had said, "Some engaged in a mocking smear campaign, saying 'you go first.' If my nation wishes, I would be a coward if I do not set out to protect the children in Gaza."
'BAHÇELİ' STATEMENT FROM THE AKP
Appearing before cameras after the AKP Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik addressed the latest situation in Gaza.
Çelik, who emphasized that the solution in Gaza is political rather than military and stated that Western countries are working to deepen the crisis rather than resolve it, was also asked about Bahçeli's message.
Stating that they welcome the MHP leader's remarks with gratitude, Çelik used the following expressions:
“Our President and Mr. Devlet Bahçeli held a meeting today as well. The AK Party delegation and the MHP delegation have matured their work. The calendar will begin to operate with the will of the leaders.
We welcome Mr. Bahçeli's words that 'Gaza is our historical legacy' with gratitude. We welcome his humanitarian, conscientious, and political sensitivity with gratitude. The place where the attention of all humanity is focused is a very strong part of our history and a part of our nation's feelings. It is commendable; there is no difference or division between us.
Some can make statements as if we have no interest in this geography or the Palestinian cause. They even adopt an attitude as if there is a contradiction between defending the humanitarian side of the Palestinian cause and defending national causes.
These are wrong. This cannot happen while there is such a great fire. Mr. Bahçeli's statements were expressed as strong support for our President.”
