AKP's framework law efforts: Proposal expected to be submitted to Parliament today
Efkan Ala stated that the parliamentary group would be briefed before the proposal is submitted. The regulation is expected to be presented to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) following the meeting.
The AKP has brought its members of parliament together for a closed-door group meeting regarding the framework law proposal prepared within the scope of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process. The meeting is expected to be the final evaluation session before the proposal is submitted to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Arriving at the group hall where the meeting is to be held, AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala responded to journalists' questions regarding whether the proposal would be submitted to Parliament today. Ala said, "We will brief our group and evaluate it again."
AKP Deputy Chairman and member of the National Solidarity and Brotherhood Commission, Hüseyin Yayman, also stated in his assessment before the meeting that discussions regarding the process are ongoing, using the phrase, "It will be good for Turkey."
Yayman, who was part of the delegation that went to İmralı to meet with Abdullah Öcalan, responded to a question about the process by saying, "As always, we are cautiously optimistic. Our state institutions are working. This is a state policy."
Emphasizing that the regulation will be addressed in the TBMM, Yayman said, "Hopefully, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will, together, make and follow through on a regulation that will satisfy our 86 million citizens."
Meanwhile, Chairman of the TBMM Justice Commission Cüneyt Yüksel stated that after the proposal is submitted to the Speaker of Parliament, it could come to the Justice Commission's agenda on Saturday. The proposal is expected to be submitted to the Speaker of the TBMM following the conclusion of the closed-door group meeting.
