New developments have emerged following the resignation of AKP Deputy Chairperson Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya from her party positions in the wake of allegations regarding stock market transactions involving her and her husband, İlyas Kaya.
Kaya had announced that she requested to be relieved of her duties within the AKP. AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik had also announced that her request to step down from her memberships in the Central Executive Board (MYK) and the Central Decision and Administrative Board (MKYK) had been accepted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Following the acceptance of the resignation, it was alleged that AKP Secretary General Eyyüp Kadir İnan announced Kaya's departure from her duties in the WhatsApp group containing MKYK members and subsequently removed Kaya from the group.
Another notable development regarding Kaya was reported to have occurred on the AKP's official website. It was stated that when searching for the name Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya in the search section of the party's website, no results appeared.
On the other hand, it had been reported that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had requested the freezing of all assets belonging to Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband, İlyas Kaya.
