AKP Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman met with members of the press in Van as part of the "Century of Turkey Meetings." In his assessment there, he sent a message regarding elections and reiterated the call for a new constitution.
In his speech, Yayman stated that they are "not afraid of elections" and said that Turkey is in need of a new constitution. Linking the debate on a new constitution to the goal of "making Turkey a global power" and "preparing it for the Century of Turkey," Yayman pointed to the need for change in the state, politics, and public administration.
Yayman used the following expressions: "We need to update the state's software. We need to update the software of politics. We need to update the software of public administration. Because in the age of digitalization and artificial intelligence, yesterday's traditional methods have been left behind."
Stating that the AKP emphasizes "continuous reform," Yayman argued that a new constitution is the fundamental requirement of this process. Yayman said, "Turkey needs a new constitution like it needs bread, water, and air. A civil, contemporary, democratic constitution that will carry Turkey toward its global goals will mean the crowning of this process."
