Photo of AKP's Tekirdağ candidate Cüneyt Yüksel eating maklube resurfaces

Political parties continue to announce their mayoral candidates for the March 31, 2024 local elections.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced his party's mayoral candidates for 48 provinces at the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Congresium.

Among the candidates announced by Erdoğan, the name that drew the most attention was Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Cüneyt Yüksel.

Yüksel, the former Mayor of Süleymanpaşa in Tekirdağ, had organized a Melek Mosso concert in June 2023 despite reactions from the party base. Yüksel had resigned from his post following the backlash.

On the other hand, journalist Turgay Güler, known for his proximity to the government, had shared a photo of Cüneyt Yüksel at a maklube table in 2017, implying that Yüksel was a member of FETÖ.

"HE IS BEING PROTECTED"

In his post, Güler stated, “Some of those at this maklube table are in prison, and some have fled. One of them is being protected! The one who is protecting him will, of course, be held accountable. A little patience.”

ALLEGATIONS OF BEING CLOSE TO FETÖ'S 'TEKİRDAĞ IMAM'

It was alleged that Cüneyt Yüksel, who was accused of being a FETÖ member, was close to Kasım Özadalı, the 'Tekirdağ Imam' whose entire assets were seized.
