AKP's move regarding Bayrampaşa: Criminal complaint filed against Özgür Özel
The AKP Istanbul Provincial Presidency has announced that it has filed a criminal complaint against the allegations made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
The AKP Istanbul Provincial Presidency has announced that it has taken legal action due to the accusations directed by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding the Bayrampaşa Municipality. In the statement made by the provincial presidency, it was stated, "We have initiated the legal process together with our provincial vice chairs against the baseless allegations and slanders voiced by Republican People's Party Chairman Özgür Özel regarding our Istanbul Provincial Presidency through the Bayrampaşa Municipality."
Özgür Özel had claimed that Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu was called by AKP and MHP officials before being taken into custody and was presented with an offer. Özel said, "The MHP Istanbul Provincial Vice Chair calls Hasan Mutlu. Hasan Bey's wife is also listening to this. On Friday morning, the AKP Istanbul Provincial Vice Chair calls. He says, 'They will take you tomorrow morning. If you say you will switch to us, I can stop it.' Hasan Mutlu tells this to the prosecutor as well. The prosecutor laughs. Is this a state of law?"
Following these developments, the AKP Istanbul Provincial Presidency decided to initiate a legal process, characterizing Özel's claims as baseless and slanderous.
