Akşener answers the question 'Will you form an alliance with the AKP?': 'I was there at the beginning'

As part of her Uşak program, Akşener visited shopkeepers at the Kemalöz Neighborhood Market and in the Dikilitaş neighborhood, and requested support from citizens for her party's Uşak mayoral candidate, Muhammet Gür.

Attending an iftar program organized by her party's provincial branch at a wedding hall, Akşener explained in her speech that her party was founded to be the voice of every citizen living in this country.

Arguing that Turkey is being poorly governed, Akşener said, "We saw that this politics of slander existed on both sides once we disturbed their comfort. Our duty as the opposition is to be the voice of this nation, to listen to their troubles, to bring them to the forefront, and to produce solutions instead of fighting. We were founded and set out to act within this duty."

ALLIANCE RUMORS WITH THE AKP 

Expressing that they said "yes" to alliance politics "because they were forced to" in order to end the system where decisions are made by a single person, Akşener stated, "We set out with this alliance politics in 2018. The Nation Alliance became the People's Alliance. But we were unsuccessful in terms of Mr. Erdoğan being re-elected."

Stating that they could not show a success that would change the current system through alliance politics in the general elections, Akşener assessed, "We put our hats back on and thought it over. As the İYİ Party, we reflected. I am not speaking here to declare any political party an enemy. Every political party in this country should compete with its own projects, its own vision, and its own understanding of service."

Akşener recounted that during her market visit, a woman asked her about rumors of her party merging with the AKP, and noted the following:

"I said, my daughter, I was there at the beginning of the AK Party. I left because I didn't like it. So why would I endure all this hardship? We have no such thing. But look, in the 2019 elections and the 2023 elections, what were they saying? They were saying, 'These people are partners with the PKK.' So, the slander didn't end, the gossip didn't end." 

The iftar program was attended by İYİ Party provincial and district organizations and district mayoral candidates.
