All 6 municipalities won by Yeniden Refah have switched to the AKP
In the March 31, 2024 local elections, the 6 district mayors in Konya who were elected under the Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) have resigned and joined the AKP.
Changes in Konya politics have come one after another. In the local elections held on March 31, 2024, the Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) had won mayoralties in 6 districts in Konya.
However, in the approximately 1.5 years that have passed, all of these mayors have resigned from their party and joined the AKP.
The transfer process, which had been discussed in political circles for a long time, became official on January 26, 2026.
At a ceremony held during the AKP's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, badges were pinned on some of the mayors, and the transitions were completed. With this move, the Yeniden Refah Party is left with no municipalities in Konya.
The district mayoralties that switched to the AKP are as follows:
Çumra – Mehmet Aydın
Doğanhisar
Altınekin
Yalıhüyük – Mehmet Ali Yılmaz
Sarayönü
Emirgazi – Mesut Mertcan
