Allegations of 'irregularities' in IYI Party 5 days before congress: 'Systematic and organized...'

IYI Party Çanakkale Deputy Rıdvan Uz has alleged that "systematic and organized irregularities" have taken place just 5 days before the Extraordinary Elective Congress, which was called following the March 31 local elections and where Chairwoman Meral Akşener announced she would not be a candidate.

"NO CAUSE FOR CONCERN"

Uz stated the following:

"Our IYI Party, which is the embodiment of the Movement of the Good and the Brave in the political arena, will hold its 5th Extraordinary Congress on 27/04/2024.

Upon examination of the list of congress delegates submitted by our Headquarters to the Çankaya District Election Board on 19/04/2024, it has been determined that SYSTEMATIC AND ORGANIZED IRREGULARITIES have been committed that undermine the right to vote and be elected and will deal a blow to our 146-year-old democratic election tradition.

In the face of this unfortunate and distressing incident, legal initiatives will be carried out during the day and legal corrections will be made; a detailed statement will be issued after the legal applications are filed.

Our congress will be held on time, without giving rise to any suspicion, and in an indisputable manner. Necessary measures have been taken in this regard, and there is no cause for any member of our party to be concerned at this stage."
